Set up water & sewer service
The city provides water & sewer inside the limits. New service is set up in person at City Hall; after-hours water or sewer emergencies call (843) 421-5391, or City Hall option 2.

What you'll pay: property tax & city fees
Horry County sends one combined property-tax bill that covers city, county, and school. The city's share is 108 mills, and city sanitation is a separate $30/month fee. Our taxes page shows what a Loris household actually pays, and the county levy and city budget those figures come from.

Turn on electricity
Electric service in the Loris area comes from Horry Electric Cooperative or Santee Cooper, depending on your address, not the city. There is no online lookup, so check the provider name on a recent bill, or call to find out. Then start a new account by phone.

Internet & TV: who serves my address
HTC (Horry Telephone Cooperative) runs a full-service branch on Main Street in Loris; Spectrum also markets service here. Availability varies by address, check yours with each provider before you commit.

Household garbage is collected by Jordan Waste under city contract; yard-debris and bulk pickup are by request through City Hall. Our sanitation page has what's collected and the size limits.

Register to vote
Voter registration is handled by Horry County. New residents update their address with SC DMV first, then register online or in person, at least 30 days before an election. Your polling place depends on your address; look it up at scvotes.gov.

Four Horry County schools serve the Loris area: Loris High, Loris Middle, Loris Elementary, and Daisy Elementary. Kindergarten is for children who turn 5 on or before September 1.
